The long awaited update

After more than a month… another update.

  • MythTV is now at revision 18536
  • ffmpeg is at revision15570
  • I have included the patch for disabling in loop filtering for h.264 (can be disabled on the playback profile setup screen).

On my 1.6Ghz Core2 on TV1 (720p) I get 100-105% CPU usage and it skips a bit. With the loop filtering disabled it’s smooth and CPU usage is about 60-70%.

So, update and let me know how you get on.

As noted on the MythTV list this almost works on my 5200X2, unfortunately very small skipping every 5-10 seconds.

    So very close!

For those who need Hauppauge HD-PVR support in MythTV 0.21 for Ubuntu or Debian, I’ve converted Mark Buechler’s patch to dpatch format:

    http://driveforge.org:10983/mythtv/24_hdpvr_r18528v3.dpatch

And a trivial build-fix for it:

    http://driveforge.org:10983/mythtv/25_hdpvr_r18528v3_fix.dpatch

For those who would rather not compile the packages themselves until Paul (or someone else) puts out packages with HD-PVR support included, I have .deb files for MythTV 0.21 w/ HD-PVR support available at the same location:

    http://www.driveforge.org/mythtv/

I’ve never made available any Debian packages that I’ve built before so they probably aren’t perfect, but so far they work for me.

Very excited about this update… but I got this error message when running ‘apt-get install mythtv’

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mythtv: Depends: mythtv-backend (= 0.21.0+fixes18666+ffmpeg15594+latm-0pk2) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: mythtv-frontend (= 0.21.0+fixes18666+ffmpeg15594+latm-0pk2) but it is not going to be installed

    Help?

What driver do you use to get DVB-T and S2 working?

  5. Paul Says:

I have a HVR4000 and I use the patches from http://dev.kewl.org/hvr4000/ to get both running.

My main box is just DVB-S at the moment and that has two Technisat Skystar II cards.

  6. Paul Says:

Shane, I have made another update that should hopefully work for you.

  7. Roysen Says:

First of all thank for the great work! I live in Norway and we are using the same system as New Zealand on DVB-T. So when scanning for channels (DVB-T) I select New Zealand and all Norwegian channels appear.

But with my HVR 4000 card I’m still not able to find any DVB-S2 channels.

I also tried to update but getting the same error as Shane

I think there was a problem with my multiverse and universe repositories and this is why i can´t get some of the required dependencies. I reinstalled everything again and did a ¨apt-get dist-upgrade¨ before installing mythtv and everything seems to be all working again.
